Photos and the Stock Library (AI Site Builder)

Last updated October 16, 2026 · Owners and office staff

Photos of your real work make the biggest difference to how your site looks and how much people trust it. Until you have your own, the builder has a stock library of real lawn and landscape photos you can use. Adding and placing photos is free.

Before you start

  • Open your site in the editor (Tools > Website > Edit website).
  • Only upload photos you own or have permission to use.

Steps

Add your own photos

  1. Choose Photos.
  2. Drop photos onto the box, or choose them from your phone or computer. You can add several at once.
  3. Each photo shows a tag (for example Logo or Our work) and where it is used on your site. New photos have a New badge.

Let the builder place your new photos

  1. In Photos, leave Let AI place new photos switched on.
  2. When some of your photos are not used anywhere yet, the button at the bottom says Place 3 new photos (with your number). Choose it.
  3. The list shows where each photo would go, for example “Goes to Home, Hero”. Nothing changes yet. Choose Show it on my site.
  4. The preview shows the change, with the parts that changed tagged New. Choose Keep it, or Undo to leave your site as it was.

Your own photos take the place of stock photos, never the other way round, and a photo you put somewhere yourself is not moved. Placing photos is free.

Use a stock photo

  1. In Photos (or Choose a photo for one part of a page), choose the Stock photos tab.
  2. Search by what you want to show, for example “mulch” or “snow plow”.
  3. Choose Use this photo. Your site gets the photo once, even if you pick it again.

Stock photos are marked Stock photo in your library. They are never offered as team photos, and photos with recognizable people are not offered for your team, your introduction or your reviews, so no stranger is ever shown as your staff or your customer.

Put a photo in a part of a page

  1. Choose Edit text, then click the part on the preview.
  2. Under the photo, choose Choose a photo, then pick one of your photos or a stock photo.

Use a logo on dark backgrounds

Some styles have a dark top bar or a dark footer. If your logo is hard to see on dark colors, open Top and bottom of every page, and under Logo choose Add a logo for dark backgrounds, then pick a light or white version of your logo. Without one, your usual logo is shown.

Choose what stays in view when a photo is cropped

  1. Open the photo in Photos and choose the focus point option.
  2. Tap, drag or use the arrow keys to put the dot on what matters (a patio, a lawn edge).
  3. The two small previews show the photo on a computer and on a phone. You can set a separate point for phones.
  4. Choose Save focus. Stock photos keep the focus the library set for them.

During the first build

On the guided setup’s photo question, the builder shows a few stock photos by name when you have fewer than three of your own. Tick the ones you like. If you add none, the builder places stock photos that suit your work at the top of your pages and on your service cards. Our work galleries only ever show your own photos.

Tips

  • Replace stock photos with your own over time. Even phone photos of a finished job work well.
  • Write a photo description. It helps Google and people who cannot see the photo.

Troubleshooting

  • A stock photo is no longer available: Publish lists it as something to fix. Pick another photo for that part.
  • A photo is cut off on phones: set a separate phone focus point.
  • A link to one of my photos that I copied a while ago no longer opens: photo addresses on your site now use a private code instead of a number, so older copied links stop working. Your site itself is not affected. Open the photo on your live site and copy its link again.
