How to Create Your First Site (AI Site Builder)

Creating your site is a short conversation: five questions, a plan you approve, and the build. Most answers are already filled in from your account, so it takes a few minutes. Every answer is saved as you go, so Finish later (or closing the tab) loses nothing. To see where this fits in, read the Website Builder Overview.

Before you start

  • Have your logo and a few photos of your real work on your phone or computer, if you have them.
  • If you already have a website, have its address ready.
  • Building a site uses AI, so it needs a paid plan. It is not available during the free trial.
  • Only the build (and reading your old website, if you ask for it) uses AI credits. The plan shows the exact cost first. See AI Credits in the Site Builder.

Steps

Start

  1. Go to Tools > Website.
  2. Choose New website.

Question 1: Is this your business?

  1. Check the card: business name, phone, the towns you serve, your services, and Proof on your site (for example the year you started, your license, your insurance and your guarantee, read from your business profile).
  2. Under the card, Licensed or insured? (optional) has two ticks, Licensed and Insured. Tick what is true. When you tick Licensed, a box for your license number appears (also optional). Your site can then show it in the proof strip on the home page from the first build.
  3. To fix anything or add your review rating, choose Change something. Untick anything you would rather not say. The rating is shown only if you fill it in.
  4. Choose Yes, that’s right. Only what you confirm here is shown as proof on your site.

Question 2: Do you have a website now?

  1. Paste its address and choose Read it. The builder shows what it found in groups. Untick anything you don’t want used, and tick only photos you own (up to 12 can be brought in).
  2. No website? Choose No, I don’t have a website.

The builder only borrows facts from your old site, never its design. Reading a website uses a small number of credits. If it cannot be read, the message says why (for example the address is mistyped, the site could not be reached, or it points to a private network), nothing is imported and you are not charged. You can try again or skip the question.

Question 3: Add a few photos of your work

  1. Drop photos onto the box, or choose them from your phone or computer. Tick the ones to use and say what each shows (Our work, Logo, Our team or truck or Other).
  2. Photos you ticked on your old website are shown here too.
  3. If you already have another website with us, Photos from your other websites lists its photos. Tick the ones you want and choose Add chosen photos.
  4. Only a few photos? Tick some of the stock photos shown by name. They go at the top of your pages and on cards, never as your work, your team or your customers.
  5. Choose Next, or Skip.

Question 4: How should your site feel?

  1. Pick Friendly and local, Clean and professional or Premium.
  2. If you added a logo, the builder names its colors and uses them. Choose Use the style’s colors instead to keep the style’s own, or Use my logo colors to switch back.

Question 5: Anything you want people to know?

Write a sentence or two in your own words, or tap an idea such as Free estimates. Choose Next, or Skip.

The plan

  1. Read the plan: the pages (with one page for each service where the style has that), the look and the photos. A page from your answer is marked From your answer.
  2. Remove a page with the ×, or choose + Add another page to describe one of your own.
  3. Read the cost line, for example “About 3 minutes, uses 54 of your 500 AI credits”. It is exactly what the build charges.
  4. Choose Build my website.

The plan itself is free: it is worked out from your answers by rules, with no AI.

Building

The pages are ticked off as they are written. You can leave the page; the build carries on. When it is done, the editor opens with your new site as a Draft and a short tour of where things are.

What happens next

Your site is a private draft. Read through it, change anything you like, and publish when you’re happy. See Ask for a Change and Publish Your Site and Connect a Domain.

Tips

  • Confirm your proof carefully. It shows on your site as you confirm it, and only you can change it later, in Business details.
  • Say what makes you different. One honest sentence gives the AI much better material.
  • Fewer pages are fine. Home, Services and Contact are enough to go live. Add more later.

Troubleshooting

  • “Build my website” is disabled: you do not have enough credits for this plan. Buy credits, or remove a few pages to lower the cost.
  • New website opens a page saying the feature is not available: building a site uses AI, which is not part of the free trial. It works once you are on a paid plan.
  • “We couldn’t reach that website” or “We couldn’t read that page” on question 2: check the address, try again, or choose No, I don’t have a website. You were not charged.
  • The build did not finish: the message says so and you were not charged. Choose Try again.
  • I closed the tab: open Tools > Website and choose Finish setting up on the website’s card. You come back to the same question.
