What's Next on the Customer Summary (Customers)

Last updated October 16, 2026 · Admins and office staff

The What’s next card on the Customer Summary answers one question: what is this customer waiting on? It shows their next visit and lists every kind of work that needs attention, each with a button to deal with it. Most items can be handled right from the card.

Before you start

  • An operator account with access to the Customers menu.
  • Open the customer from Customers (click the name or View). The card sits under the Financial Summary and Programs cards.

What the card shows

  • What’s next with a badge such as “3 things need attention”.
  • A one-line summary of the next visit.
  • Property picker (only when the customer has two or more properties): choose a property to narrow the card to it, or All properties.
  • Minimize / Expand: collapses the card to the header line. The page remembers your choice in this browser, so it stays minimized next time.

Next visit

The customer’s next visit that is still to happen: date, time (if it has one), job and crew. When the customer has several properties, the picker shows the next visit for the property you choose.

  • Open visit opens the visit’s own page.
  • Calendar opens the scheduler on that crew and day (or Open job when the visit has no crew yet).
  • Reschedule (when the visit can be moved) opens the Reschedule window right on the page.

If nothing is booked you will see “No upcoming visits.”

Things that need attention

Each line shows a count and what it is. Only lines with something in them appear, and the first five kinds are shown; click Show N more for the rest. Click a line (or Review) to open it in place and see the first few records; a “+N more” note tells you when there are more.

Line What it means What you can do
$ unpaid on N invoices (with “N overdue” when any are past due) Open invoice balance for the whole customer. This line ignores the Property picker, because one invoice can cover several properties. Financials jumps to the Financials tab.
Visits waiting for a date Visits saved to be scheduled later that still need to happen. Set date opens a window to pick the crew, day and (for a timed visit) start time and length. Click Save date; the visit goes on the calendar.
Jobs or rounds not scheduled Active jobs with no visit at all, and program rounds whose window has not ended but have no visit yet. Schedule opens visit scheduling for the job. Schedule round opens a window to pick the crew and day, Preview it, then Schedule visit.
Completed visits not invoiced Finished visits with no invoice covering them. Seasonal prepay and on-job-completion jobs are left out, because they are billed differently. Create invoice creates a draft invoice for that one visit from the job’s prices and opens it for you to review. Nothing is sent to the customer. Where a visit can not be billed this way (for example a repeating visit), Open job is shown instead. See all in Unbilled visits opens the report filtered to this customer.
Completed visits missing a chemical log Program visits in the last 12 months that were completed but still need their chemical application record. Open visit to add the log.
Jobs need pricing Jobs that are still being worked, or waiting to be billed, with no prices on them. Add pricing opens the job’s products and services.
Jobs with notes not on a visit Job notes that are not attached to any visit. Review opens the job’s notes so you can place them.

When nothing needs attention, the card says “Nothing needs attention right now.”

Steps: date a waiting visit

  1. On the customer’s page, find visits waiting for a date in What’s next and click it.
  2. Click Set date next to the visit.
  3. Pick the Crew and Day. For a timed visit, also pick the Start time and Length. A route stop has no set time; the crew’s route order decides when it is done.
  4. Click Save date. You will see “The visit is on the calendar.” Click Done.

Steps: schedule a program round

  1. In What’s next, open jobs or rounds not scheduled (or go to the Programs tab and find a round showing No visit).
  2. Click Schedule round.
  3. Pick the Crew and Day (and start time and length if needed), then click Preview.
  4. Check the preview and click Schedule visit, then Done.

What happens next

The card refreshes with the page, so a dated visit or a new invoice drops off its list. A visit you date or a round you schedule shows on the calendar and on the customer’s Appointments tab.

Tips & best practices

  • Use the Property picker on multi-property accounts to work one property at a time. The unpaid line always stays, since invoices belong to the customer.
  • Create invoice makes a draft. Review it on the invoice page and send it from there when you are ready.
  • Minimize the card on customers you open often if you mostly need the tabs; one click brings it back.

Troubleshooting

  • The card is not there. If the page could not build it, you see the older Next Appointment card instead. Refresh the page.
  • A visit you expected is not under Next visit. Only visits dated today or later that are not closed count. Check the Appointments tab with the All filter.
  • Create invoice shows a message instead of opening an invoice. The visit may already be covered by a round or monthly invoice, or the job has no prices yet. Read the message next to the button, or open the job.
  • No Schedule round button. It only appears when your company runs programs and the enrollment is active.
