How to Update or Delete a Job Site (Customers)
Last updated October 16, 2026 · Admins and office staff
Existing job sites are edited and deleted from the Job Sites tab on the customer’s profile page. Editing is also where you record the site’s measured turf area, a field that is not on the add form. A job site that is still in use (by a job, an estimate, an active service plan, a chemical application record or a saved measurement) can not be deleted.
Before you start
- The customer must have at least one job site. See Add Job Site.
- To delete a site, nothing may still use it. See Delete a job site for what blocks a delete.
Update a job site
- Open the customer from Customers and select the Job Sites tab in the Work group.
- In the list, click View on the site you want to change. The View Job Site window opens with its current details.
- Edit any of the fields:
- Job Site Name (up to 50 characters)
- Address Line 1 / Address Line 2: typing in Address Line 1 shows up to five US address suggestions; picking one fills the street, city, state and zip.
- City / State (up to 50 characters each)
- Zip Code: 5 digits or ZIP+4 (
12345or12345-6789). - Measured turf area (sq ft): a whole number from 0 to 43,560,000 (1,000 acres), for example
12000. Only available here, not on the add form.
- Click Update Job Site. (Cancel discards your changes.)
You land back on the Customer Summary with a green “Jobsite updated successfully!” banner.
When property maps are turned on for your company, a Map button beside View opens the site’s property map.
Delete a job site
- On the same Job Sites tab, click Delete next to the site.
- Confirm the prompt “Are you sure you want to delete this job site?”.
On success you see “Jobsite deleted successfully!” and the site disappears from the list.
A site that is still in use is not deleted. Instead, a red banner tells you what is using it:
| Message | What to do |
|---|---|
| “There is a job assigned to this Job Site. Please delete all jobs before deleting this Job Site.” | Delete or move every job on the site (see the Jobs tab). |
| “This job site is used by an estimate. Delete or move the estimate first.” | Open the estimate from the Estimates tab and delete it or change its job site. |
| “This job site has an active service plan. Cancel or delete the plan first.” | Open the contract from the Contracts tab. |
| “This job site has chemical application records, which have to be kept. It can not be deleted.” | Keep the site. Chemical application records are a regulated record. Rename it or mark the customer inactive instead. |
| “This job site has a saved property measurement. Delete the measurement first.” | The site has a saved property map. Keep the site and rename or correct it instead, or contact support. |
What happens next
Updates take effect everywhere the site is shown: jobs, scheduling and estimates that use it.
Tips & best practices
- Fill in the measured turf area for any property you treat or price by square footage.
- Prefer editing over delete-and-recreate. Correcting the name or address keeps the site’s history attached.
- Deleting the customer’s only job site leaves them with nowhere to put new work until you add a site or use Add work.
Troubleshooting
- A red banner appears when you delete. Something still uses the site; see the table above.
- “ZIP code must be 5 digits or ZIP+4 format.” / “Measured area must be between 0 and 43,560,000 square feet (1,000 acres).” Fix the value and save again.
- The View window opens empty. The site’s details failed to load; close it and click View again.
- “Jobsite not found.” The record could not be matched when saving (possibly removed in another session). Refresh the page and retry.
- “Failed to delete jobsite.” / “An error occurred while updating the jobsite.” The operation did not complete; try again and contact support if it persists.
