Add Work: Customer, Job, Price and Visit in One Pass (Jobs)
Last updated October 29, 2026 · Admins and office staff
Add work is the guided way to book new work. In one page you pick (or add) the customer and the property, say what the work is, price it, and put the visit on the schedule. Every Add work and Create Job button in the app opens it: on the Jobs list, on a customer’s page, in the Customers list menu, and on the dashboard’s quick actions.
Before you start
- Saved services with a price under Billing > Products & Services make pricing quicker, but you don’t need one: you can type a service and its price on the page.
- Add at least one crew if you want to schedule the visit now. Without crews, the visit can only be saved for later.
- For a treatment program, the program must exist and your plan must include Programs.
Steps
- Go to Work > Jobs and click Add work. (From a customer’s page, Add work opens with that customer already picked.)
- Who & where
- Choose Existing customer and pick them, or New customer and enter the Last name or company name and the Customer type (first name, email, phone and billing address are optional). The First name box is hidden when the customer type is Commercial or Government; a business puts its whole name in Last name or company name.
- For an existing customer, choose One of their saved properties, or A different address. A new customer has no properties yet, so you just enter where the work is done.
- For a new address, tick Same as the customer’s billing address or type the address.
- What work
- One-time job: a single visit, such as a cleanup, an install or a repair. Priced and scheduled on this page.
- Recurring service: visits on a repeating schedule, such as weekly mowing. You price it here, then set the visit frequency on the next page.
- Treatment program (shown when your plan includes Programs): enroll the property in a program. Pricing and rounds come from the program, so the page goes straight to enrollment.
- Give the job a Job name (for example “Spring cleanup”) and an optional description.
- Price
- Each line is one service: pick it from your saved services, or type it in the description box, then set the quantity and rate. The total updates as you go. Click Add line for another one.
- No saved services yet? The page says so and each line is simply typed. To save a service for next time, click save it to your price list; your entries are kept and you come back to the step you left.
- Or tick Finish pricing later. The job is saved without services, shows Needs pricing, and is not ready to invoice until you add them.
- Choose how it will be billed: I’ll invoice it when the work is done, or Create a draft invoice automatically when the visit is completed. A draft is never sent or charged automatically; it waits under Billing > Invoices & Payments, marked Not sent, for you to review.
- When (one-time jobs)
- Schedule it now: pick the crew, the date, and for a timed crew the start time and duration. A route crew works through its stops in order, so the visit is “any time” that day.
- Save it for scheduling later: pick the crew (optional) and whether the visit is a timed appointment or a route stop. It waits in the scheduler’s Non Scheduled list.
- Click Save work (or Save and set repeating visits for recurring work, Continue to enrollment for a program).
What happens next
The Done step summarizes the customer, property, job, price, billing and visit, and offers the next thing to do:
- View on calendar when the visit is scheduled.
- Set a date when the visit is waiting; it opens a date picker right there.
- Add pricing when you chose Finish pricing later.
- Open program enrollment for a program, which opens the enrollment wizard for this customer.
- Open job to go to the Job Summary, or Add more work for this customer to start again with the same customer and property.
Recurring work saves the job and takes you to the scheduler’s recurrence editor to set the repeating visits.
When to use the full job form
Add work covers most new work. For Monthly Fixed or On Job Completion billing, a season link, or an inactive job, click More job options at the bottom of the page. That opens the full Add Job form described in How to Create a Job. You can also change any of these later on the Job Summary.
Tips & best practices
- Price on the page. The job carries the price through to the invoice, so a priced job is ready to bill the moment the work is done.
- Saving twice is safe. If the save is interrupted, saving again does not make a second customer or job; the Done step says “Already saved”.
- Add more for the same customer. Booking a cleanup and a mulch install for one property? Use Add more work for this customer after the first save.
Troubleshooting
- “Choose a customer, or add a new one.” / “Choose one of this customer’s properties, or add a new one.”: step 1 is incomplete.
- “Last name or company name is required.”: a new customer needs a last name, or the business name. A first name on its own is not enough.
- “A new customer needs a new property: enter where the work is done.”: a new customer has no properties yet, so enter the address.
- “The customer has no billing street address to copy. Enter the property’s address.”: untick Same as billing address and type it.
- “Add at least one service, or choose "Finish pricing later".”: the Price step has no lines.
- “Choose a service or type one.”: a line has a price but no service picked or typed.
- “Enter the price of …” / “Enter the price of a typed service.”: a typed service needs its rate, since there is no saved price to fill it in.
- “Quantity cannot be more than 100,000.” / “A line cannot be more than $999,999.99.”: check the numbers on that line.
- “Choose the crew, or save the visit for scheduling later.” / “Choose a visit date between the years 2000 and 2100.” / “The visit has to finish the same day.”: fix the When step; shorten the duration or start earlier.
- “Treatment programs are not included in your plan.”: pick One-time job or Recurring service.
- No saved services yet: type the service and price on the line. A typed line bills like any other.
