How to Read the Chemical Dashboard (Chemical Logs)
Last updated October 16, 2026 · Owners, licensed pesticide applicators, and office staff
The Chemical Dashboard is a one-page view of a whole season of chemical work. It answers three questions: what needs attention right now, how your program rounds are going, and whether your records would hold up if an inspector asked for them today. It only reads records you already keep (application logs and program rounds), so there is nothing to set up and nothing to enter on this page.
Compliance disclaimer: The dashboard checks your records for common gaps, but record-keeping rules vary by state, product and license type. A clean dashboard does not by itself mean you are compliant. Check with your state’s department of agriculture or licensing authority when in doubt.
Before you start
- Your plan includes Chemical Tracking (Pro and Scale plans).
- Some application logs for the season. With none, the page says “No chemical records for (year) yet” and offers Open Chem Log.
- For the Program rounds section, a program with rounds and visits for that year.
Steps
- In the sidebar, open Chemicals and click Chemical Dashboard.
- The page opens on the current year. To look at an earlier season, pick it from the Season dropdown at the top right. The current year and the three before it are offered.
- Work down the page, starting with Needs attention and Needs review.
What each section shows
Records audit ready
The big percentage is the share of the season’s records that are complete. A record counts as complete when it has:
- an applicator license number,
- an EPA registration number (fertilizers have none, so they are not asked for one),
- weather, meaning both temperature and wind,
- and, if it was voided, a reason for the void.
Under the percentage, each of those four checks shows All present or how many records are missing it. The percentage never shows 100% while any record has a gap.
Needs attention
Four tiles. Each is green when there is nothing to do.
| Tile | What it counts |
|---|---|
| Visits past their round window | Program visits still not completed after their round’s window has closed. Skipped visits are not counted. |
| Done visits with no chemical log | Program visits marked complete with no chemical log recorded against them. This is the biggest gap in an inspection. |
| Applied above label rate | Logs more than 10% over the product’s label rate. The tile shows the highest overage. The check only compares a log with its label when both use the same unit. |
| High wind with no note | Logs with wind over 10 mph and nothing written in the log’s notes to explain it. |
Program rounds
One row for every round of a program for that year, with the round’s window, a progress bar, Done of planned, and a status: Complete, On track (with how many days until it closes), Opens (date) for a round that has not started, or the number overdue. The bar shows visits done with a chemical log, visits done with no log, and visits not done yet. Click a round name to open the Chem Log filtered to that round.
Needs review
The newest logs that have something to look at, up to ten, with the date, property, product, applicator and the issue: License number missing, EPA number missing, Weather missing, High wind, no note, Over label rate (with the rate applied and the label rate), or Void has no reason. Click a date to open that log. Open Chem Log opens the register for the season.
Wind at application
The share of applications made in wind under 10 mph, split into under 10 mph, over 10 mph with a note, and over 10 mph with no note, plus the season’s average wind and temperature.
Product used this season
Each product’s number of applications and total used, in the unit it was logged in. Amounts in different units are listed separately and never converted.
Restricted-use register
How many restricted-use applications were made this season, with the most recent three.
Applicators
For each applicator: applications, area treated in acres, square feet per hour, and how many logs are missing a start or end time. Several products applied together in one visit count once for area and hours.
Applications by month
A bar chart of applications per month, split by product category (herbicide, fertilizer, insecticide, fungicide, other).
Exports
- Export state report (top right) and Export PDF (bottom of the page) download the PDF summary of the register for the whole season, January 1 to December 31.
- Export CSV downloads every log for the season as a spreadsheet.
These are the same exports as the Chem Log page, already filtered to the season. See Record Applications, Read the Register, and Export Reports.
What happens next
The dashboard reads live records, so it changes as soon as a log is saved, edited or voided. To clear an item, open the log and fix it (or void it with a reason), or record the missing log from the visit.
Tips & best practices
- Clear “Done visits with no chemical log” first. A completed treatment with no record is the hardest thing to explain to an inspector.
- Write a note on high-wind days. If you sprayed in wind over 10 mph for a reason (a sheltered site, a granular product), say so in the log’s notes.
- Look at the dashboard weekly in season, not just before an audit. Gaps are easiest to fix while the applicator still remembers the day.
- Use the Use current weather button on the log form so temperature and wind are never left blank.
Troubleshooting
- “No chemical records for (year) yet” - no application logs are dated in that year. Pick another season, or record logs from the Chem Log page.
- A round I expected is missing - only rounds of programs for the selected year that have visits are shown.
- A log that looks over the label rate is not flagged - the dashboard only compares a log with its label when both are in the same unit, and only flags logs more than 10% over. The log form itself warns about any rate above the label when you save.
- Voided logs - they only count in the audit-ready figures (a void with no reason is a gap). Every other figure ignores them.
